Everyone has heard of GoPro, right? The tiny, wearable HD camera that has been taking over the internet with insanely cool, awe-inspiring first-person videos and photos. You know, like a guy free-falling to earth from the edge of space. The camera is small enough and light enough to be mounted to anything, like the beak of a pelican learning to fly. GoPro’s Instagram account features still shots from their camera and their feed full of unique perspectives which definitely inspire creativity. And make you want to seek out adventure.
GoPro has made a huge splash in social media, Instagram included, and they were nominated for several Shorty Awards. Their always-on social strategy is about creating engaging content that is highly shareable, and has resulted in one of the most engaged social communities, with over 1.7 million Instagram followers alone. They share their own content, as well as user-generated content, and run a Photo Of The Day contest allowing their followers to achieve GoPro fame. Users can submit entires here. I don’t currently own a GoPro but my husband has been wanting one for months. And with a summer vacation on the horizon, I do see a GoPro in my future. Photography is one of my hobbies so I’m always in charge of the camera when we travel. But I would love to have our travels captured on video and I am excited to see what we could create with a GoPro!
