I’ve been catching snippets of The Lost Type Co-Op on Dribbble the last couple of months so I am thrilled to see the site finally launch today. Here’s the gist in the words of their founders:
The Lost Type Co-Op is a Pay-What-You-Want Type foundry, the first of it’s kind.
Founded by Riley Cran and Tyler Galpin, originally in a whirlwind 24 hour adventure to distribute a single typeface,
Lost Type has blossomed into a full fledged foundry, distributing fonts from designers all over the world, with it’s unique model.
Users have the opportunity to pay whatever they like for a font, you can even type in ‘$0’ for a free download.
Oh House Ind. has had the thing same going on …

Hi Jess, This is actually really different from Photolettering (although that’s an awesome new site as well). TLTC lets you download individual fonts for whatever price you’d like to pay. Photolettering uses a subscription model where you can set and customize specific pieces of type and download them individually. You don’t get the whole font with the download.
well, I’m a fan… :)
thanks for the links.
Thanks so much for sharing this. I had never heard of Lost Type and am super excited to explore their site.
