Eric Hanson is an award-winning, Minneapolis-based illustrator with an incredible client list. He works in a sketchy pencil style, developed while working on the cover for John Waters’s memoir, Role Models, during which he realized that pencil drawings are the equivalent of “thought on paper.”
Also be sure to check out, A Book of Ages, which Hanson both wrote and illustrated. He describes the book as “a witty and ironic collection of moments from famous lives — triumphs, failures, revealing anecdotes, odd incidents, crossed paths, missed chances, early and late masterpieces, mid-life crises and reinventions, great partnerships, changes of heart and changes of mind — organized by year of age. The perfect birthday gift.” Buy it on Amazon.
We hired Eric to help with Harper’s On Main, a restaurant in New York. I love his style, it’s indescribably classic. He came back with great looking drawings which we used on menus, coasters, matchbooks, etc. I should send it to you as a follow up! Great person to work with. Thumbs up!
