In Monday’s second session I attended “Financial Planning for Solo Designers” given by Shel Perkins, the author of Talent is Not Enough: Business Secrets for Designers. While a lot of the information didn’t really apply to me, some of it was really helpful. One thing he mentioned that got me excited is a new website AIGA is developing. Scheduled to launch in the next couple of months, the AIGA Center for Practice Management, will provide all kinds of practical business resources to designers. aiga.org already offers quite a few business resources, but this new site promises to be more in-depth. I’ll definitely post updates if I get more solid details on the launch.
