One of the many reasons I fell in love with Hawaii when I first visited a few years ago, was the Aloha spirit that is in the air. Beyond a greeting, as most people on the mainland are familiar, Aloha refers to a spirit, attitude and way of life embraced by the Hawaiian people. There are lots of interpretations and teachings, but a common definition of its deeper meaning is: “the joyful (oha) sharing (alo) of life energy (ha) in the present (alo).”
So because of my affinity for all things Hawaii, I was immediately drawn to Love From Hawaii, a recent project by Jeff Hamada of BOOOOOOOM. As part of this year’s Pow! Wow! Hawaii, which took place earlier this month, Jeff launched a free encouragement project. BOOOOOOOM readers were instructed to ask for encouragement in the comments of his original post. Then during the week, he approached people while walking around Hawaii and asked them to write words of encouragement on a postcard in response. Some of the results, along with the writers, were captured on Instagram, and then each reader received kind words in the mail shortly thereafter. Below are a few of my favorite messages, but be sure to check out BOOOOOOM’s Instagram for more.
