It has been a frigid, dismal winter in the Northeast, and with Spring officially kicking off next week, I’m already dreaming of warmer temps and sunny skies. One of my favorite Instagram feeds for summery inspiration is abeachcottage, which provides whitewashed snapshots of everyday life at a beach cottage in Australia.

Sarah, who runs the very popular blog of the same name, is a British born Australian stylist and photographer (and blog editor). Sarah’s Instagram feed complements her blog, which features recipes, furniture makeovers and DIYs, beautiful photographs of life on the beach and the adventures of a pooch named Barley. The blog was launched in 2009, “after a huge sea-change from the grey skies of London to the other side of the world, as a place to fulfil her passion for casual, laid-back decor and vintage coastal style and to document the story of the renovation of her old cottage and share the journey of her fabulous move to a new country, a new home and a new lifestyle by the sea.”

Something that, given this winter, I could totally relate to. And what gravitates me toward her Instagram feed. Filled with simple, beautiful still life’s. Picturesque, turquoise seascapes. Lots of streaming light. Pops of color. Layered textures. Yummy food. As a designer and a creative, I do have a passion home decor. This Instagram feed provides wonderful inspiration for decorative styling and how to work with texture and color. It’s also great for food styling inspiration, which is an art of it’s own.

I like to say that I’m a designer by day, blogger by night and photographer on the side. I started my career in package design before going into advertising, then B2B communications, a small stint back into packaging and I now work for a large digital agency. I am so lucky to get to do what I love every day, but I am always looking for creative outlets. My blog, Girly Obsessions, allows me to design something that represents me – my aesthetic and my obsessive personality! I love taking and editing photos, and am slightly addicted to Instagram and Lightroom. I also love to travel and explore. I love to bake. And most importantly, I just love to think creatively.
