If you’ve seen Where the Wild Things Are (amazing, in my opinion), you already know that the film’s star, Max Records, is one talented kid. So it may come as no surprise to you that his parents also have talents of their own. Max’s father, Shawn Records, is a documentary photographer (check out his blog here), who captured the four months of shooting the movie on film. And now the images are available in book form from Publication Studio. In the interest of full disclosure, Records is “is convinced that the book will disappoint anyone looking for insight into the film or the filmmakers and offers it as a manifestation of his own anxieties; a collection of fears and reassurances, upon letting his son out into a world that is beyond his control.” I, however, think this makes the prospect of the book all the more interesting. Here are a few sneak peeks (more here).
To learn more about Shawn’s experience with the film and how they came to be involved, you can read his interview on We Love You So right here.
