Ceramics from Undertown Studio

For the month of August, a series of guest posters will be filling in on DWL with daily posts. Today’s posts come to you from illustrator Tuesday Bassen. For more from Tuesday, be sure to check out her shop and follow her on blog. Enjoy!

I recently started producing a line of small batch hand-painted ceramics to sell publicly. Though I originally made pottery in the basement of my childhood home, I’ve lacked a consistent space to fire my wares in NYC. Luckily, I met ceramicist Helen Levi when I bought one of her gilded eye cups and she invited me to join a shared studio space called “Undertown.”

I share the space with 10 incredible ceramicists that each have defined styles, but a few of my current favorites include the witchy moon-phase wares from  Rachel Howe of Small Spells, bizarre rubber-dipped polka dotted works from  Josephine Noel of Recreation Center, and funny sculpted fruits by Helen Levi.
