CourseHorse NYC: Classes to Take This Week

We’ve teamed up with CourseHorse to bring you a selection of current NYC classes that will be of particular interest to you. Here’s what we recommend checking out in the next seven days. As a special treat, DWL readers can get $5 off any class with the promo code: designworklife.

Here’s what’s happening this week:

Raising Startup Capital

Tonight, April 15th, 6:00PM–7:30PM / $35
This series will help students understand term sheets, initial rounds of investment, and how to retain value and control. We’ll also discuss what to do with that money once you have it so you can create exit opportunities and potential for future funding.
One of the most critical issues facing entrepreneurs is deciding if and when it makes sense to raise outside capital. Access to capital cannot only help accelerate product development and sales, but in many cases, partnering with the right investors can influence the trajectory of a business.

In this class, students will learn the two essential elements of stories, the difference between stories and “story-ish” information, how to apply the Six Senses to create emotional resonance, how to shape a narrative across the trajectory of five beats, and how to zero in on and shape a narrative around one selling point.
