Juan Coca: CHS 2014 Commencement Invitation

Juan Coca, a design student at Fort Hays State University, gave his younger brother quite the rad grad gift in designing these beautiful letterpress commencement invitations.

It’s refreshing seeing such craftsmanship in the commencement space as it seems to be a relatively underserved design medium compared to wedding invitations and baby shower announcements.

The 25-piece set was printed on Crane’s Lettra Ecru White 110#C by Karissa Arnold of Tumbleweed Press. Juan explains that he chose the black and gold color scheme “to symbolize the achievement and formality of the event,” while choosing green for the hand-signed envelopes and foil-stamped belly bands to add some school spirit. The invitation’s blind deboss provides intricate, elegant texture and creates spacing between each element.
