Pattern Art & Julia Rothman

I love pattern art.

I use it A LOT in my work—probably too much according to some people. But it’s one aspect of design that I really enjoy playing around with. I have not, however, mastered an easy way to make a repeat, (despite the fact that I took a couple of Surface Pattern Design classes in college). I’m sure my process is twice as difficult/involved/complicated as it needs to be, so I was pretty psyched to see this tutorial given by Julia Rothman, a pattern designer and illustrator whose work I really admire.

Click here to learn how to make your own repeats, and make sure to check out more of Julia’s own work (including what you’ve seen in this post) and her work with design firm Also.
