Big news around here! After 5+ years of running DWL on my own—with the overwhelming support of Brian of course—I’m ready to bring on a few people to help me take the blog to the next level. Below you will find all the details about what I’m looking for, so if you feel like you may be right for the job, I look forward to hearing from you!

BLOG CONTRIBUTORS

I am looking for a few creative design enthusiasts to contribute their voices to Design Work Life on a regular basis. Here are the details:

Timing: 
Timing is flexible and open-ended, though once we agree on a post schedule you must be able to commit to that timing on an on-going basis. I would love for contributors to start posting on or shortly following October 1st.

Location:
This is a remote position, though being local is a plus so that we have the option to get together from time to time. Keep in mind that we are now located in Fairfield County, CT, which is within commuting distance from NYC, but it is not a short commute.

What I need from you:

  • Must be able to commit to 1 – 3 posts per week, which can be surrounding a particular topic or a consistent column. Once we decide to work together we’ll sort out the details—I’m very much open to hearing your ideas and collaborating.
  • Must have basic working knowledge of WordPress: compose/edit/publish posts, upload images etc.
  • Must be highly organized, responsible and able to work independently.
  • Must have basic Photoshop skills, including the ability to save images for web etc.
  • Must have a good eye for design and writing skills.
  • Must have online availability via Skype, Gchat, etc. for occasional check-ins and conversations as needed.
  • Once we decide on post dates, meeting schedules, you must ensure consistent availability.
  • Must be tech/social media/online savvy.

Your Duties:

  • Post Research
  • Post writing 1–3 posts per week. We will agree upon a schedule and post specifics once we decide to work together.
  • Formatting and publishing blog posts.

What you will get from DWL:

  • Acknowledgement within articles and on our new profile page, including links to your portfolio/website and social media accounts.
  • Access to a global audience of design enthusiasts.
  • Following a one month trial period, you will be compensated for posts on a per-post basis.

FALL/WINTER BLOG/DESIGN INTERN

I am looking for a Fall/Winter intern to assist in the running of Design Work Life. The ideal person will be someone who is enthusiastic about design and visual inspiration, and is looking to gain experience with the ins and outs of running a design blog. Here are the details:

Timing:
This position starts October 1st, for a minimum of two months with the potential of extending through the end of February 2014. The specific hours and days per week required are somewhat flexible, but you must be able to commit to approximately 8 hours per week.

Location:
This is a remote position, though being local is a plus so that we have the option to get together from time to time. Keep in mind that we are now located in Fairfield County, CT, which is within commuting distance from NYC, but it is not a short commute.

  • If you have any development (HTML, CSS etc.) skills, that’s a plus.

Your Duties:

  • Review and sort through post submissions.
  • Write and format blog posts, both self-initiated and directed.
  • Post Research, including providing post content recommendations.
  • Manage and conduct various DWL-related email correspondence.
  • Comment monitoring.
  • Social media monitoring: Facebook posts, twitter posts etc.
  • This is primarily a blogging position, but the job will potentially include small design projects related to Design Work Life and Seamless Creative.

The position includes a weekly stipend. In addition, here is what DWL can offer you:

  • Insight into what it takes to run a daily blog with a broad audience.
  • If you’re interested in the design field, I can provide insight into what it takes to run a design business and work with clients independently.
  • Additional WordPress training.
  • Acknowledgement within articles and on our new about page, including links to your portfolio/website and social media accounts.
  • If you’re on a design track, the option of portfolio reviews and work critiques.
  • Surprise DWL-related goodies on occasion.
