Ken Sakurai

Ken Sakurai is one of the best designers I’ve ever known. For two and a half years, I had the honor of working alongside him on several projects. Watching him go about the daily business of graphic design was one of the best educations I could’ve ever asked for. Ken has the rare ability to take abstract concepts and weave them together in unexpected ways that always feel effortless. His ideas always made me say to myself, “Why didn’t I think of that?” and his natural instincts for color, type and proportions always seem to be right the first time.

Ken doesn’t seek attention for himself – he’s far too humble for that sort of thing. He doesn’t have a site, at least that I know of, and he wouldn’t be caught dead on Twitter. But when Courtney asked me to do a guest post, he was the first person I thought people should know more about.

Here are just a few of the things he’s done over the years:
